Someone once said…”be nice to geeks when you’re in school, you might end-up working for one when you grow-up” – does it sums it all…
Well historically the term “geek” referred to a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken, bat, snake or bugs. Modern day geeks elite would be the term. Nowadays geek is chiefly associated with technology; as Webster points it out “an enthusiast or expert especially in a technological field or activity ”
But just what is a geek? hahaha, read ahead and you will at least get my definition – Madly deeply in love with technology, nothing excites them more than the mere mention of it. Geeks have their own community, lifestyle, attitude and ideology. You can’t tell if someone is a geek just by looking at them. A geek need not be shabby or for that matter a hacker, a geek is just a notch above the rest 😉
Geekism is all about the geek activities that include surfing for hours, reading mails, writing codes, chat, talk tech or even sitting idle in front of the computer, Geekism is just finding an excuse to be online and being with computers for hours even though the initial intention was to do an Online Funds Transfer. People not practicing geekism would rather spend these hours being social, taking a nap or else dating.
Geeks love being online, they love contributing to the community, sharing their knowledge and ideas – that’s just what I am going to be doing here. Coming days I will be sharing my ideas, information and knowledge with all fellow geeks and commoners 😉
